Professions, names and nationalities

Identifying professions and origins

The unit's objective is to familiarize students with the vocabulary and syntax necessary to ask and answer questions concerning what other people do, their names, and where they're from.

Hours: Approximately 4 hours

Unit Objectives:

  1. By the end of the unit, you should be:
    • Familiar with the basic vocabulary necessary to tell others what you do and where you are from. 
    • Familiar with the vocabulary necessary to hold a simple conversation by asking people about their profession, name, and nationality. 
    • Able to write simple requests to ask about people's names and nationalities and be able to read similar requests.
  2. The exercises present students with a short range of professions/job titles (project manager, photographer, doctor, etc.) and nationalities (Greek, Spanish, French, etc.). However, through conversational exercises, students are encouraged to build the specific vocabulary necessary to introduce themselves and those close to them.
