What a conversational French class looks like
Each session is built around real life situations. You practice speaking on a theme, pick up what you need as you go and get feedback you can use straight away.
Theme-based conversation practice
Structured discussions on themes such as shopping, travel, a visit to the doctor or a call with your child’s school.
New vocabulary as needed
You discover useful vocabulary as it comes up, without memorizing long lists. Each new word is language you can use the same day.
Free-flow speaking
You speak freely while your teacher gives targeted correction and support. This is where most of the practice happens.

Group sizes and structure
We keep groups to a maximum of 4, so every member gets time to speak and feedback. A small group also means you get to know your conversation partners, which makes speaking easier and helps you progress faster.
Conversation class or language exchange?
Language exchanges and meetups are a free way to practice speaking with native speakers, and a good social way to meet people. Many students benefit from doing both: a class to discover what to fix, and an exchange to use it.

Other ways to practise French in Geneva
Geneva has a variety of ways to practise speaking, from free summer lessons to schools like ours. Here is how they compare, so you can pick what fits you.
Free summer lessons in parks
Every July and August, the canton’s Bureau de l’intégration et de la citoyenneté (BIC) runs Français en été: free beginner and elementary French lessons in parks across the canton, open to anyone who doesn’t speak French.

Low-cost courses for newcomers
The BIC also publishes a directory of low-cost French courses run by non-profit organisations, which you can search by schedule and place.

Language exchanges and meetups
Community groups and meetups run informal language exchanges, where you swap French for another language. They are free or cheap and a good social way to meet people.
Guided sessions
Our sessions add what the others don’t: someone who corrects you, a group at your stage and planned themes, for A2 to B2.
Sessions with children: coming soon
Same format as our standard conversational French sessions, for parents who want to bring their baby or young child. We don’t provide childcare, but your child is welcome in the room with you.
Location to be confirmed: Old Town, Rue des Alpes or Eaux-Vives. These classes will usually not be at our Rue des Alpes office, because access with a stroller is not ideal.

Can I join if I have never studied French?
Not this course. If you want to learn French from zero, start with our Structural + Conversational course. It builds the base you need before you move into free speaking.
How do you check my level?
Before you join, you have a placement interview and assessment. We look at your speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, then recommend the group that fits you best. The goal is a group where you feel challenged but comfortable.
Are the classes only about conversation?
Mostly, yes. We also help you improve pronunciation, build your vocabulary and understand how French sentences work, with French culture in context. The content is practical without being theoretical. Culture comes up naturally, because language and daily life go together.
What makes your teaching style different?
We promote real-world use and speaking from day one. You learn essential phrases and practice saying things in your own words, with support at every step, until you master the phrases you use most.
When are the classes?
Sessions run during the day and in the evening, in person or online. You choose the times that fit your schedule.
What if I miss a session?
Let us know in advance and we arrange a make-up session or give you exercises so you stay on track. Semi-private and group formats include 2 cancellations.
Do you offer conversational French classes online?
Yes. Online sessions are for small groups of 2 to 3, so everyone can take part fully. You can join from anywhere.
Are online classes as effective as in-person ones?
In small groups of 2 to 3, yes. You still speak live, learn new words and work on pronunciation with your teacher, using interactive resources.
What resources do I get?
You get access to textbooks, audio materials and our online learning platform, so you can keep practicing at your own pace and find exercises that suit you. Your teacher can also recommend extra resources.
How much do French conversation classes cost?
Private sessions cost 100 CHF per hour. Semi-private for 2 to 3 students costs 60 CHF per hour each. A group of 4 costs 35 CHF per hour each. Prices are for 10-hour packages.
Are there free French classes in Geneva?
Yes. In July and August, the canton runs Français en été, free beginner and elementary French lessons in parks (ge.ch). The canton’s integration office also lists low-cost courses from non-profit organisations (ge.ch). Our sessions are paid and aimed at A2 to B2.
Can I bring my child?
Sessions for parents with babies and young children are coming soon. Join the waiting list and we will contact you when they open.
