The unit explores the vocabulary and syntax needed to hold an advanced conversation about recent events and problems. Students will follow the story of Martin. Martin finds himself in a spot of trouble over a misunderstanding and finally in the police station. Using the account, students will build on their vocabulary to describe, in detail, past events and situations.
Hours: Approximately 9 hours
Unit Objectives:
- By the end of the unit, you should be able to:
- Describe and answer questions about a recent chain of events: What happened, where it happened, when it happened, who was involved, what was the outcome etc.
- Ask questions about a recent chain of events: what happened, where it happened, when it happened, who was involved, what was the outcome etc.
- Describe a chain of recent events: What happened, where it happened, when it happened, who was involved, what was the outcome etc.
- The unit explores vocabulary used when asking and answering questions about a recent chain of events. It provides the language needed to formulate answers and ask questions (what happened, who was involved, what was the outcome etc.). For students to explore the vocabulary best suited to their context, the guided exercises are paired with various spoken activities to build vocabulary linked to personal needs.
