Describing an issue that you have just encountered

The unit explores the vocabulary and syntax needed to hold an advanced intermediate conversation about something that has just occurred. The unit describes the story of Martin and a Hotel desk clerk who discuss an issue with Martin's room. Following the story, students will explore and discover the vocabulary and sentence structures necessary to describe, in some detail, events that have just occurred.

Hours: Approximately 9 hours

Unit Objectives:

1. By the end of the unit, you should be able to:
   • Describe and answer questions about recent events: What happened, where this happened, at what time, who was involved, etc. 
   • Ask questions about an event that has occurred recently: What happened, where this happened, at what time, who was involved, etc. 
   • Describe recent events: What happened, where, when, who, etc.
2. The unit explores vocabulary used when asking and answering questions concerning events that have recently taken place. The unit provides the language needed to formulate answers and ask questions (what happened, where did this happen, etc.). For students to explore the vocabulary best suited to their context, the unit is paired with various spoken exercises to build vocabulary related to their daily use.
