An Introduction
Introducing yourself, asking people about themselves, and discussing people you've met
The unit follows the story of two people who meet in a cafeteria. Following the story, students are guided through exercises to build vocabulary and syntax needed to hold an upper intermediary conversation to introduce themselves to someone and ask them about themselves: Where they come from, what they do, where they live, and their family.
Hours: Approximately 14 hours
Unit Objectives:
- By the end of the unit, you should be able to:
- Introduce yourself to someone and ask them questions about themselves: What they do, where they live, and about their family and friends.
- Introduce yourself to someone and answer questions about yourself: What you do, where you live, your family, and friends.
- Describe meeting someone: Where you met them, what they do, where they live, and about their family and friends.
- The unit explores the vocabulary needed when starting a casual conversation with someone we have just met. The exercises provide students with vocabulary to ask questions and formulate answers. For students to explore the language best suited to their background, the guided exercises are paired with various spoken activities to build the vocabulary relative to their unique context.
