A Tiring Weekend

Describing your weekend and answering questions

Students will follow the case study of two acquaintances who meet on the bus and discuss their weekend. Using the story, students will develop the vocabulary and syntax necessary to hold an advanced intermediate-level discussion about what they do over their weekend. Students will also be able to describe their primary leisure activities.

Hours: Approximately 9 hours

Unit Objectives:

  1. By the end of the unit, you should be able to:
    • Describe, in detail, what you have done over the weekend: When you get up, what you do during the various parts of the day, specific activities, who you meet up with, etc.
    • Ask someone, with some detail, what they do over their weekend: When they get up, what they do during the various parts of the day, specific activities, who they meet with, etc.
    • Describe someone else's weekend: When they get up, what they do during the various parts of the day, specific activities, who they meet up with, etc.
  2. The unit explores key vocabulary used to discuss students' weekends and leisure time or another person's weekend. Guided exercises are paired with conversational activities to help students build a vocabulary best fitting their unique backgrounds.
